A Public Service Mission

In this capacity, we address public health challenges on a daily basis while upholding our academic mission through active involvement in teaching and research.

Our hospital provides round-the-clock care, welcoming all patients without discrimination and paying particular attention to the most vulnerable, ensuring that each individual receives personalised care in full respect of human dignity, ethical standards and professional confidentiality.

Our commitment to excellence in cutting-edge medicine, combined with a multidisciplinary approach, makes our hospital a leading institution both nationally and internationally.

In this context, we work closely with numerous partners, including general practitioners, specialists, public social welfare centres (CPAS), and other healthcare and social support organisations.

In line with our mission

    • We provide care of varying levels of complexity across preventive, curative, and palliative fields, including emergency care when required, while continuously assessing its appropriateness and effectiveness;
    • Alongside our clinical activities, we also carry out public health, social, and solidarity-focused responsibilities. These include ensuring high-quality care, prevention, screening, support for the most vulnerable, and facilitating the transition back to life outside the hospital;
    • We play a key role in safeguarding public health
    • We are actively involved in teaching and clinical research.

    Putting patients first

    As patients are our top priority, it is essential for us to continuously take into account societal changes and advances in modern medicine

    In this context, we do not merely adapt to the present, but we anticipate future developments, particularly those related to public health issues, new models of care, and emerging technologies – whether therapeutic or diagnostic – with the constant aim of maintaining, and further enhancing the quality of care we provide.

    University Hospital

    Since its inception, Saint-Pierre Hospital has maintained close ties with the medical faculties of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). In partnership with these universities, CHU Saint-Pierre has retained its role as a public teaching and research hospital, working in collaboration with the academic hospitals of Erasme and Jette.

    Thanks to the presence of numerous clinical supervisors, the hospital welcomes medical students for training placements across a wide range of medical disciplines. In addition, as part of their specialist training, CHU Saint-Pierre hosts junior doctors in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, ophthalmology, stomatology, and other specialties.

    In collaboration with universities and their research laboratories, CHU Saint-Pierre is also involved in clinical and translational research projects, offering patients access to the latest diagnostic and therapeutic advances
