Tijdens deze kritieke overgang van het intra-uteriene leven naar het extra-uteriene leven moet de baby plotseling zelfstandig al zijn vitale functies gaan beheren. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p>Het onmiddellijk afklemmen van de navelstreng voordat de baby begint te ademen, kan een gevaarlijke daling van het hartminuutvolume veroorzaken, waardoor het risico op orgaanschade toeneemt, met name aan de hersenen en de darmen.
